Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa
NZ Childcare Association

Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa/NZ Childcare Association (NZCA) is a national organisation that was formed as NZ Association of Child Care Centres Inc in 1963 by Sonja Davies and other childcare licensees. This group advocated for regulatory improvements and funding to support quality improvements in early childhood education.

It is a membership organisation that represents and supports early childhood education services throughout New Zealand.

In 1990 it adopted its current name in recognition of its commitment to biculturalism.

From its early days, training was a key focus of NZCA. Today, NZCA is one of the largest single providers of early childhood teacher education in New Zealand.

In 2005 NZCA expanded to offer professional development programmes for people working in early childhood education.
