Membership Services Manager

Charmaine Thomson

Charmaine began her ECE career teaching in the State Kindergarten sector and then moved into the private ECE sector as Assistant Director in a Wellington service. Teaching in the ECE sector gave Charmaine a strong grounding in pedagogy. This meant that a move into teaching performance music at a Private Training Establishment was an excellent experience.

Charmaine then took a break from teaching for eight years and worked in recruitment; bringing UK secondary teachers into New Zealand and sourcing relievers for ECE services and primary schools in Wellington. The next four years were spent recruiting researchers and policy analysts for the state sector and bringing in skilled people from all over the globe.

Charmaine rejoined the ECE sector, working for the Ministry of Education in the Early Childhood and Regional Education group on a range of praxis based research programmes.

More recently Charmaine has worked with an Industry Training Organisation on workplace based learning programmes for the state sector. There she was responsible for supporting learners in the workplace to achieve national qualifications across a range of areas including border management, first line management and business administration.

Charmaine brings a wealth of experience and a passion for outstanding service to NZCA and looks forward to ensuring the Association's membership supports your work.
