How long is the contract?
The contract is for three years - set to finish in 2013.
What does the professional development contract cover?
The focus of the contract has moved from increasing participation to improving the capability, knowledge and skills of teachers in centres located with the Ministry's target areas.
What regions does the contract cover?
NZCA has been assigned specific areas of the country and will not be competing with other providers to work with the services in these areas. The areas where we have been contracted to work in are Whangarei and the Far North; some areas in Greater Wellington, Kapiti and the Wairarapa; and Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast.
Can I take part in the professional development?
Yes you can participate provided you are located in the target areas identified by the Ministry. You can contact us on professionaldevelopment@nzca.ac.nz
How will the programme be delivered?
The programme will be delivered by a group of regionally based professional development facilitators that will convene communities of learning in each region. These will comprise of specialists, centres and local education bodies.
What will the professional development programme include?
Following an initial analysis, a programme specific to the requirements of the services is to be developed and delivered. This programme may include work with individual services and clusters of services towards increasing participation.

How can I access this professional development?
All services in this programme will be referred to us by the Ministry. If you feel your centre is need of support, we recommend you contact your local Ministry of Education office.
Where is this programme being offered?
This programme will be offered nationally wherever the Ministry requires us to deliver.
How will the programme be delivered?
To deliver this aspect of the contract, we will be using our networks of high quality services and members from across the country. We see this is a good opportunity to offer leadership to the sector.
