Te Tari Puna Ora o Aotearoa/NZ Childcare Association actively promotes quality early childhood education in New Zealand. 

We have compiled useful resources to assist professionals in the early childhood education sector as well as parents and individuals with an interest in early childhood education.

Publications for early childhood

NZCA publishes a range of written resources that are either available for purchase or free for members of NZCA:

  • Concerning Women, Considering Children (May, Helen. 2003. New Zealand.) - documents the history of NZCA from 1963 to 2003.
  • Assessment in Early Childhood Education (Carr, Margaret. 2004. New Zealand.) - a collection of three papers based on the keynote addresses of Margaret Carr about Assessment in Early Childhood.
  • Iti Rearea is the quarterly newsletter distributed exclusively to its members. Iti Rearea features stories on best practice in early childhood education.  Selected articles published in Iti Rearea are available in this section of our website. 
  • Handbook for Employers in Education and Care Services - a resource produced to guide centre management and employers in the education and care services in the New Zealand context. This is free for members and available to download from the members only area of the website.
